Céleste Boursier-Mougenot is a french sound artist who manipulates soundscapes and everyday situations. He has turned hoovers into harmonicas, and he re-created the technological hum of urban surveillance systems with video feedback and an amplifier.
For his new work, he has filled an aviary with 40 zebra finches that sit on the strings of many carefully placed electric guitars. He seems to be able to manipulate and construct a situation where nature and technology meet harmoniously. I think it is very intelligent installation art and the animal participation/ performance is fantastic.
