NIcolas Provocost’s films at Haunch of Venison in Berlin was one of the best exhibitions i experienced in Berlin.

‘Long live the new flesh’ was probably the most inflicting peice of work, a blending mash up montage of horror films. Done in such a way that each film transcends in and out of each other, forming a superhorror but at the same time playing with their humor. Here is a clip –

The images consume one another, decoding any symbolism from their original context and transcending them into boiling point.

‘Gravity’ is another montage piece that deconstructs the archetypal cinematic kiss. By cutting it down to frame by frame Provocost blends between scenes seamlessly, reducing the image to something completely different out of context.
