I spent the last two nights in Brighton. I went and saw this at Fabrica on Sunday.

When i heard about it my initial thoughts about it dismissed it as a scientific neuroscience experiment with multimedia technology, not art.
When i went i found the installation of all the screens to somewhat prove my initial thoughts were uneducated. I began to think about how much expression can communicate ones feelings, do we ever make an active conscious attempt to portray an expression that reflects our accurate emotions? except when we are in a photo.
The cameras directed at our face use face reading technology to signal video loops that mirror our facial expression. This face reading technology detects contours on our face and our eyes.
IT worked the majority of the time, when i exaggerated an expression. It also knew when you were not looking into the camera, and the projected face of others would also look off frame. This unified all the characters on the screens in the space and made the environment feel very inhabited by faces of our feelings.
I am interested to see where this technology leads us to and how precise it can get.
